The use of a Pond Water purifiers/dechlorinators are a necessity because as we all know Chlorine can burn fish. It can also damage their scales and gills and some severe circumstances it can kill.

Chlorine is added to drinking water in most parts of the world to help kill bacteria. It therefore follows that when you fill or top up your pond you are adding chlorine to it and putting the health of your fish at risk.

Chlorine is added to tap water to kill bacteria but unfortunately Chlorine also burnsthe fish,s gill filima and Chlorine will kill off the beneficial nitrifying bacteria within the pond and filter system.

The equipment used to remove chlorine from water is called a dechlorinator. In simple terms a dechlorinator works by passing water through activated carbon and out into the pond providing chemically cleaner, chlorine free water.

A dechlorinator works by passing water through activated carbon, providing chemically cleaner, chlorine free water.

Water should be in contact with the carbon for approx 4 mins to enable it to absorb chlorine.

There are no hard and fast rules as to when the carbon should be renewed so the figures given below are given as a guide only.

Using an optional water meter will enable you to calculate the volume of water added to your pond.

Always back flush new carbon at the start of use.

All units are supplied with Pre Filter and Carbon.

The sizes and flow rates of our dechlorinators are listed below. All units supplied with Pre Filter (also available separately).

Small Cylinder Specs:

20,000 Gallons treatment. Contains granulated active carbon granules for removal of chlorines etc. Supplied complete with a 5 micron pre-filter. 15 Litre capacity - 6 kgs Carbon - (180 litres per hour) 24" high x 8" Diameter.

Medium Cylinder Specs:

40,000 Gallons treatment. For the safe removal of chlorine and other harmful chemicals in fresh tap water. Supplied complete with a 5 micron pre-filter. 25 Litre capacity - 10 kgs Carbon - (300 litres per hour) 37" high x 8" Diameter.

Large Cylinder Specs:

60,000 Gallons treatment. For the safe removal of chlorine and other harmful chemicals in tap water. Contains granulated active carbon granules. Supplied complete with a 5 micron pre-filter. 40 Litre capacity - 18kgs Carbon - (600 litres per hour) 46" high x 9.5" Diameter.

The larger the unit the faster the fill.

Maintenance is easy, all you have to do is make sure that you change the carbon annually and the prefilter element when necessary.
