Cloverleaf CL Range Pump Adaptor / Diffuser

The importance of obtaining a good rotational spin in a vortex bay without disturbing particles or waste that has dropped out of suspension is a vital requirement, and this is why on pumped supplies to multi bay filters Cloverleaf have introduced the option of fitting a diffuser.

This simple push fit device (with facility for incorporating a stepped hosetail pipe connector- up to 40mm/1.5") has been specifically and carefully designed for the task at hand. Water entering the large bore horizontal inlet is diffused to the point of converting the flow into a series of horizontal and vertical jets within the inlet pipe, and this amalgamation diffuses the direct horizontal velocity flow when finally entering the vortex.

The Cloverleaf CL1 : - 4 Bay unit comprises of the first bay fitted with mechanical brushes, Bay 2 acting as a biological chamber with its “Flocore” medium, Bay 3 with Japanese Matting as a high performance biological medium, and Bay 4 serving as the final biological/mechanical stage - incorporating foam and the highly proclaimed aqua rock/alfagrog.

As standard this system is supplied without a lid, and without any filtration mediums – thus giving the pondkeeper full flexibility in choice. A "CL4 Optional Media Kit" is available at extra cost consisting of 28 Brushes, Jap-Mat, Foam & Aquarock. Basically same media set up as for “CL2” & “CL3” filters.

The site installation of the CL4 model is unique to the range, in that pressures on the casing welds brought about by the weight of water (approx 1 ton per bay without media) requires that the unit needs to be placed on a firm level concrete base, and partially encased in concrete to provide lasting stability and a long life. This applies regardless of whether the unit is pump or gravity fed, and the attached diagram illustrates the basics of what needs to be achieved.

Cloveleaf Adtec CL Pond Filters

Cloverleafs ADTEC range of Professional CL filters are supplied with an integral Particle Separation System (PSS) in lieu of any vortex bay. Incorporation of the PSS advanced technology means a far greater increase in filter efficiency: 100% beyond the standard CL range.

Cloverleaf state that efficiency or performance gains are possible principally due to the PSS media (or PSM) preventing contamination of biological media in other bays. Whilst the prime function of the PSM is to act in a mechanical capacity the media itself also has a large biological capacity, especially when the media cleaning process only ever involves mature pond water and compressed air (oxygen). Furthermore it should be noted that the conventional brushes (installed as standard to bay No2) are not needed for mechanical filtration purposes, and thus via protection from the PSM will act as an additional quality biological bed.
